A genuine question is one we don't know the answer to ...

This last week I have been at Auckland University learning some more about Open to Learning Leadership.  So, what does this have to do with Room Three and their learning?  Right now we are at the beginning of our Inquiry.  Everyone is working on their two open ended questions.  The difficulty is ensuring your question is not closed.  A good way to know it is closed is that it can either be answered with a yes, no or a short answer.  I also define a closed question as one I can find the answer to on google in 20 seconds.

Back to Auckland and the title of this week's blog.  A genuine question is one we don't know the answer to.  I want our students Inquiry to be a genuine one and for that to happen they can't know the answer already - which doesn't lead to real new learning.
